Rootstock deriving from the cross of Vitis vinifera cv and Vitis rupestris. Today there are 4 different clones of this rootstock: 3,759,1034 and 1043.

101-14 MGΤ is extremely tolerant to the root form of phylloxera as well as to the nematodes Meloidogyne incognita and Meloidogyne arenaria.

The 101-14 MGT degree of tolerance to iron chlorosis is low. Up to and 20% tolerant to total calcium and up to 9% to active calcium and CCI* (see R 110) up to 10. 101-14 MGΤ is very susceptible to soil acidity, copper toxicity, and boron deficiency. Rootstock susceptible to drought, but adapts quite well to humidity. It has a rich root system similar to that of Riparia Gloire de Montpellier. 101-14 MGT absorbs magnesium from the soil quite well. It is particularly suitable for quite deep clay soils and with sufficient soil moisture.

101-14 MGT generally shows a good affinity to varieties. Plants show rapid growth, however the robustness conferred by 101-14 MGT is limited. This rootstock contributes to the control of vegetative growth of plants and has an effect on the early completion of the vegetative cycle. Yields are generally moderate with an average weight lower than the rest of the rootstock. 101-14 MGΤ provides balanced and quality, well-ripened products and blends made specifically with Cabernet Franc N, Cabernet Sauvignon N, Chardonnay B, Chenin B, Colombard B, Gamay N, Grenache N, Petit Verdot N, Sauvignon B, Semillon B and Syrah N, were highly acceptable.

101-14 MGT has long internodes with a medium-length diameter. The development of node buds is also average and the extraction of fast growing buds is a little difficult. The production of 101-14 MGT wood can be quite variable, depending on climatic conditions (30,000 to 80,000 meters / ha ). The wood is easy to maintain, the rooting ability is easy, as well as its behaviour in grafting which is quite good.

101- 14 MGT tolerance to the foliar form of phylloxera is moderate. It has a good degree of mildew tolerance but is quite susceptible to anthracnose.
